Remember that just because granite is very durable does not mean that it is bulletproof. It will get scratches and marks by other stones or heavy tools. Removing scratches from the granite is a very complicated and time consuming process and not always 100% successful.
Clean your granite counter tops only with products designed to work on natural stones. We strongly recommend that you do not use your regular cleaners such as Windex because cleaning products like these will weaken or completely remove the sealer that protects the granite leaving your natural stone exposed. We recommend that you use the common cleaning product Pledge with a very fine (0000) steel wool. It works great and takes care of the toughest spots. This also works great for stainless steel sinks reducing the amount of water spots.
Resealing your countertops is a very important step and greatly increases their lifetime. It also protects them from staining caused by spills. We recommend resealing your countertops at least once a year or even once every six months if they are used heavily. You can use any natural stone cleaner that you can pick up at your neighborhood home improvement store. The procedure is quick and easy and the materials are very affordable.
